Bin Raider

The Enviroment & Recycling

What if it Rains?

Walking to School

He's clean and he's green and he thinks he knows who's responsible - all of us. Bin Raider will teach us how to save energy, see the benefits of walking and cycling and brush up on the three 'Rs' - reduce, re-use, recycle. It's simple when you know how…. BIN RAIDER is based on the 8 doorways of the National Framework for Sustainable Schools and can be booked at either of two levels:

Infants (4-7 yrs): we look at rubbish and what to do with it and introduce the idea: 'reduce, reuse, recycle'. We encourage children to walk or cycle rather than using the car and look at energy and water saving. (Running time Approx 60 mins.)

Juniors: (7-12 yrs): we cover the above in more detail and in addition we add a global dimension: we demonstrate how the 'Greenhouse Effect' works and discuss the causes and effects of climate change. Running time Approx 70 mins.

By day Mason was an ordinary school boy, but by night through his computer game, the right hand man of 'Ecomon', an intergalactic Eco-Warrior from the planet Catalytica. When his school decides to have a special Walking to School Day these two worlds collide as his journey becomes a real life computer game.

Key Stage 1: We concentrate on good road sense and we demonstrate how to cross a road safely. The positive aspects of walking to school are explored and we see the activity as a good way of exercising the body as well as being fun.

Key Stage 2 : We discuss how exercise improves our fitness and general well being, the respiratory system is explained and we explore the environmental impact of cars at a local and global level, looking at air quality and global warming.
