The
Story that Wrote Itself
Harvey
can never think of anything to write. Most of literacy hour
is spent looking out of the window. But when the class embarks
on a new creative writing project, he finds himself transported
into a world of goblins, dragons, giants and enchanted castles.
As the class Word Bank explodes into a myriad of images and
everyday characters seem to take on a more sinister aspect,
Harvey finds his literacy project 'Imaginary Worlds' is starting
to write itself
..
Supporting
the National Strategy for Literacy, The Story that Wrote Itself
focuses on the Narrative Unit of the Literacy Framework, exploring
narrative planning, structure and language.
The play highlights how to develop the use of different settings
in narrative, how images can be used to plan stories and how
the use of language can create atmosphere or suspense as well
as how to structure a story by looking at existing writers'
structures and by the use of paragraphs.
The
Story that Wrote Itself is available at two levels for either
4-7 yrs or 7-11 yrs.
