| At
the local picture house in Sticksville, Cosmo Lens and his girlfriend
Betty Beam dream of the silver screen. But once they hit Tinseltown they
soon find that the great star Belisha Beacon has other ideas. Chart their
rise as they discover the bright lights and dark days on the way to seeing
their names in lights.
Set in the silent era of Hollywood, this is a rags-to-riches tale of folks who want to make it big on the big screen and is based on Attainment Target 4 of the National Curriculum for Science on the topic of light and sound. |
| In the Infants (4 - 7) version we discover that light and sound come from various sources and that darkness is caused by the absence of light: we learn there are many kinds of sound, explore how they travel and how we hear them. We look at reflection, how shadows are made and explain how a rainbow is formed. Teachers' Notes. | |
| In the Junior (7 - 12) version we build on this, learning that light travels in straight lines. We learn how sounds are made, how it travels and we explore pitch . We see that some things reflect light better than others, explore shadows in more detail and demonstrate how the eye works. Teachers' Notes | |
